Qantas Forced to Ground Flights After Latest Strikes
22 Jun 2008 - Qantas Airways (Sydney) has been forced to cancel twenty-four flights across three states over the next two days as a result of the latest industrial action by the airline’s engineers. Six Qantas flights scheduled to depart Sydney and Melbourne today have been cancelled and a further eighteen flights will be cancelled tomorrow.
Engineers will walk off the job for up to four hours at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Cairns airports in support of their pay claim.
The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association is seeking a 5% pay rise for its members while Qantas is offering a 3% rise. The union has accused Qantas of trying to drive down wages and conditions, claiming it was putting its international reputation at risk.
HOW RUEY
Is it possible to happen to Singapore Engineer??
everyone is complaining low pay, low allowance, but actually who really dare to raise it and do some action like the Qantas engineer???
we complain this and that, not happy with the management, so what?? do you think it will change if we just keep quiet at one corner? do something like them, and let them know who is really important to the aviation. Don just sit down there and talk so much. Do something..If dare not do anything, then just keep quiet, stop complaining, continue and focus on your job like some other people
We are just another coward, NATO(no action, talk only)
nah.. forget it, everyone is just another NATO, just thinking of our own piece of bread
